LambdaMOO

LambdaMOO is a classic text-based virtual environment.

This page contains instructions for connecting to LambdaMOO via smart phones, tablets, and computers.

To connect to LambdaMOO you can use a Telnet client or a dedicated MOO client. Telnet is easier to just connect with, but dedicated clients make it easier once you have connected.

Connecting Via Telnet

If you have a Telnet client, you should be able to click here to connect to LambdaMOO:

telnet://lambda.moo.mud.org:8888

To log in once you have connected via Telnet, type:

connect Guest

Connecting Via MOO Client

In a dedicated MOO client, you will need to enter the following details (they may have slightly different names):

Host: lambda.moo.mud.org

Port: 8888

Connection Command: connect Guest

Android

ConnectBot is a Telnet client for Android (make sure you set the connection type to telnet rather than ssh). You can install it here.

MuClient is a dedicated MOO client for Android. You can install it here.

Blackberry

BBSSDH is a Telnet client for Blackberry devices. You can download it here.

There are not any dedicated MOO clients for Blackberry.

GNU/Linux

On GNU/Linux you can install a Telnet client using your graphical or command-line package manager such as yum, apt-get, or synaptic.

TinyFugue 5 is an excellent command-line MOO client that runs on MacOS X and Windows as well as on UNIX platforms such as GNU/Linux. It is usually available through your package manager as tf5.

iOS (iPhone and iPad)

Mocha Telnet Lite is a Telnet client for iOS. You can download it via Apple’s app store here.

MudMaster is a MOO client for iOS. You can purchase it via Apple’s app store here.

Mac OS X

MacOS X has a Telnet client installed by default. Just click on the link at the top of this page to connect!

Savitar is a popular dedicated MOO client for Mac OS X. You can download it here.

Windows

On Windows you can find out how to install Telnet here.

Pueblo is a popular dedicated MOO client for Windows. You can download it here.

Once You Have Connected

When you first connect to LambdaMOO as a Guest, you will find yourself in the Coat Closet. You can press a button to get out into the Living room by typing: turn doorknob

From there, you can start exploring!
