(C) is a magic sigil.
‘Copyright’ is a magic word.
They are both impotent in mortal hands.
They only have power over publishers, but only when wielded by publishers.
In all other cases, they are mere superstition. Vestiges of a bygone era.
And now we have an affectation with the ‘non-commercial’ clause, as if it somehow wards against loss of potential commercial earnings, or the imagined inequity of commercial exploitation.
CC-NC – “My work is for the public, but if any greedy publishers think they can sell it… they can think again.” WTF???
What charlatan gave the people the delusion that they could wield copyright?
