After lots of positive feedback, today we're removing the “draft” notice from our Statement of Intent for Attribution-ShareAlike Licenses.
Do read this, it's great. It's part of the long slow drive towards migrating Wikipedia to BY-SA (or making BY-SA usable by Wikipedia, depending on your point of view).

Solaris - The Solaris Book of New Science Fiction: Volume 2They're not mentioning it in the publicity, but this collection contains the new Jerry Cornelius novella from Michael Moorcock, "Modem Times".I've started reading it and it's very good. Absolutely vintage Cornelius but with the quotes from Iraq now rather than Vietnam.If this blog post is threatening to mean precisely nothing to you, Wikipedia isn't much help. I will blog about Cornelius at some point, the stories are absolute classics.

This draft statement attempts describe 1 what CC does as a license developer and steward, 2 why CC Attribution-ShareAlike licenses play a special role in the movement for free cultural works — clearly inspired by the free software movement, and 3 CC's intentions as steward of Attribution-ShareAlike licenses, in the context of 1 and 2.
This looks absolutely excellent. Take a look, and if you have any comments you can make them on the CC wiki or on the cc-licenses list.

Come Together (Like That)

I'm working on "like that" again. The first piece I finished is this one, called "come together". You can see the applet page and source code here."like that" is being written in Processing, which is written in Java, which is being made Free. As with all my art this will be released under a copyleft licence (GPL 3) in an archive containing all work done for the project including any discarded along the way.
